Meet the Team
Name: Ben Stubbington (aka Stubbs)
Role: Build & Delivery Manager
Before Provision I was a young aspiring Professional Golfer with big dreams of travelling the world and playing on tour. I can tell you now that this story does not end with me playing on tour, but I do end up travelling the world…
My story begins working for my family at Hockley Golf Club in Winchester where I first turned professional. I then landed an assistant professional position at The Grove. Here I completed my degree and worked for 2 years. Working at a 5* resort taught me excellent customer service skills and, also started my love for planning and organising events. By the end of my time there I was organising and running large corporate golf days as well as coaching and running the golf shop.
After this, I worked as a Sales Manager at Foresight Sports, travelling the UK and demonstrating the GC2 unit, training clients and selling the odd unit along the way. This was the job that really kick started my love of being on the road and seeing new places, in my 2 years I covered almost every mile of the UK and got to know the technology side of golf inside out.
My path to Provision started when I was still at The Grove. I worked on a number of events for Provision coaching for them at events they were activating at. These events included The Ryder Cup at Gleneagles and BMW PGA at Wentworth. I got to know the team pretty well over this period of time. The next time I saw Konrad we got chatting and he informed me that Malcom, a Provision legend was departing, they needed to fill his position, and did I know anyone who would be interested. Well it sounded like an opportunity not to be missed so I put myself forward, and after a few trips to the sunny Isle of Wight decided it was the job for me. That was in 2016 and I haven’t looked back since!
Working in events can be long hours, high pressure and a lot of stress – but despite all of these things, the end product makes it all worth it (ask any events professional and they will probably say the same!). When you have put in hours of hard work planning and getting an event set, then stepping back and seeing the finished product and thinking …… I did that, I made that happen.
I was asked if I had had a “I don’t believe I am here moment” – this was a tricky one as there have been some incredible experiences, from working on The Ryder Cup, The Presidents Cup, the ATP Tennis and a host of European Tour Events to name a few! But the one that will stay in my memory forever has got to be whilst working the Olympics in Rio. We got invited, as a thank you, to go to the athletics the night of the ladies 100m final. During that night we saw Mo Farah win the race where he tripped at the start and went on to win gold and Jessica Ennis Hill take silver, her last race before retiring. During this trip we were also beside the 18th green when Justin Rose won the first golf gold medal, that was pretty special.

If you were to win the lottery tomorrow, what is the first thing you would buy: Well as I have just moved to the USA, I really need a car, so I would probably go get a car.
If were stuck on a desert Island and only allowed two luxury items, what would they be: Ooooooooh definitely an iPod so I have music, I can’t be without music, secondly, probably my golf clubs, wouldn’t want my golf game to fall apart in case I got rescued.
