The Idea

A Rugby Activation based Fan Zone.

An area for people to try out all the different skills required by professional rugby players. Give the fans an opportunity to put themselves in the shoes of the pros giving them a chance to feel exactly what the players do when getting ready to face off in the premiership final. It was also extremely important to tie that in with Gallagher’s brand message of ‘facing your future with confidence’.

The Process

It’s the Premiership Rugby Final, there are a mix of emotions going into a game: nerves, excitement, anticipation… what better way to channel these feelings than putting yourself in the shoes of the players albeit for just a moment. There are so many different elements to professional rugby that are important, and it was crucial to highlight them all in order give fans an appreciation of the challenges the players will face in the final.

The Product

A large area featuring a variety of fun rugby activations for fans attending the Premiership Rugby Final to try out. This area included a seated area for fans to sit and relax as well interactive activities that included all the elements that rugby players need in order to be successful whilst incorporating the key elements of Gallagher’s brand message.

What we did

connecting brands with sports fans worldwide

The Zone looked like this:

  • An agility challenge where fans would run across an LED tiled floor and try to avoid the tiles that lit up. This replicated exactly what rugby players have to do when avoiding tackles!
  • A teamwork test where groups of fans would have to work as a team to build up the giant Gallagher Premiership Final Rugby ball.
  • A passing accuracy challenge where fans could score points for passing a rugby ball through small holes from 3 meters away.
  • A conversion challenge where fans could attempt kicking a conversion in a bespoke rugby simulator.
  • A dive for a try slow motion video where fans could haul themselves of a springboard into a foam pit as if they were diving for a try. This was then captured by a slow-motion camera and sent to them via an email after the event.
  •  A photo opportunity next to the Premiership Final trophy.
