An interactive Fan Zone that would introduce people to golf in a relaxed manner but also offer something to challenge the more experienced golfer. It needed to appeal to all ages and be live throughout the duration of the Olympics.
The team worked closely with Anthony Scanlon of the International Golf Federation to design a Fan Zone that met the brief. The team looked at what interested people to the game in the first place and then what it is that keeps people interested. Other KPIs that the client wanted the Fan Zone to meet were discussed and solutions explored. The agreed design was a number of skills challenges and opportunities that would not be daunting to a new golfer, be fun and exciting for a child and also offer an element of competition for those more skilled golfers.
A buzzing area that offered: 2 golf simulators, a branded 5 hole putting course, a Long Putt Challenge and free PGA golf lessons. Over 700 people went through the Fan Zone and enjoyed the activations.
