Stand Out Moments
If someone asked you what your standout moments were from your career, do you know what you would say?
I don’t think many people would answer with the same stories as Nick and Kon – the people who founded Provision Events – here is a little insight in to the money can’t buy moments they have had throughout their careers.
Let’s take it back to the 2016 Olympics and hear from Nicks memory…
“I would never have thought that Provision would be working at The Olympics – obviously I had to have my picture taken in front of the Olympic Rings to mark this momentous occasion! We were responsible for building and delivering the Golf Fan Zone for the International Golf Federation for the ladies and men’s golf event. We were lucky enough to meet the GB Golf Team – Justin Rose and Danny Willett – we even got to watch Justin Rose win the gold medal on the Sunday..
During our stay in Rio we were given tickets to watch team GB in action at the velodrome. We saw Chris Hoy and his team win and break the world record – the crowd went wild and the atmosphere was just incredible!”
So, over to Kon…
“Two events that will always stay with me are the Nokia Roadshow at the European Tour Events and the Nike Golf Activations at the European Tour Events. These two events were what really gave us the leg up we needed to start the business, as it gave us a presence at numerous tour events and paved the way for what we do now.
I also loved all of the travel, I got to see so much of the world and met the most amazing people, I leave that to the team of Event Managers now though!”
Both Nick and Kon, told one highlight that was the same…. Meeting Seve – a hero for both of them, and it is not your average – Oh there’s Seve, let’s get a picture story….
“We have been lucky enough over the years to meet the superstars of golf, which include Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, Ernie Els, Paul Mcginley, Monty, Rory Mcilroy and Nick Faldo to name a few, but one person that stands out is Seve.
We were invited to a BBQ at Seve Ballesteros’s house during The Spanish Open. Kon and I were invited to go to his villa which overlooked one of the holes at Valderama GC during the championship week. When we arrived, we were ushered around to his back garden where the BBQ and outside caterers were. We were the 1st to arrive and Seve came out of his house and chatted to us until other people arrived. Roll on several hours later with only a handful of people present, the drinks were flowing, great food was being served and we watched Real Madrid v Barcelona on TV. Such a great night and we will never forget how friendly Seve was – what a legend he was and such a tragedy he is no longer here. There is a picture of Kon and I with Seve that is on the office wall – it is lovely to see every day.”
We know we are privileged, to work in this industry and have the opportunity to experience moments like these, but we never take them for granted.
We are looking forward to more experiences in the world of sport.
